Learn how to design a neighbuorhood digital flier for an upcoming local event, fictional or real. This workshop focuses on graphic design, typography, and do-it-yourself publishing. It will explore combining text and images to create custom designs to promote an event for a specific time and place. In a globalized world, being informed and inspired by your everyday life becomes ever important to be rooted in the here and now.
You will understand the weight and potential of communicating with words and images in tandem. By understanding your message's clarity for a specific context, while embracing your imagination, you will learn how to design with purpose. At the end of the workshop, you will take home a printed and digital flier to add to your portfolio. Perhaps this could inspire you to hold space for local events! Participants will be asked to contribute their fliers to an online gallery website.
