Undergraduate Deferral Request Form 2023

Any personal information collected on this form is protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). The information you provide will be used to update your OCAD University records. These records are only viewed by OCAD U administrative staff and not released to any other parties.

OCAD U will consider deferral requests in cases of extenuating circumstances, this includes applicants who cannot begin their studies due to the impacts of the global pandemic
Deferrals will not be granted for applicants who choose to take a gap year or to attend another postsecondary institution
Deferrals are only valid for the same program and year level indicated in the original offer of admission
Deferrals are only valid for a period of one academic year
All conditions of the original offer of admission must be satisfied before a deferral is granted
The deadline to satisfy all conditions of the Offer of Admission is August 1, 2023
You must have accepted the offer of admission through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre and paid the confirmation deposit of $500 by the deadlines indicated

The deadline to request a deferral to begin your studies in September 2024 is September 19, 2023.

A note on deferral requests to January (Winter term):

You may choose not to register for any Fall term courses and to register only in Winter term courses when registration is made available to you. As such, deferral requests to January 2024 are not required. However, please note that some courses are only offered in the Fall term and/or may be prerequisites for Winter term courses. If you decide not register for Fall term courses, please make sure to contact Academic Advising to help with your course planning to ensure that you are aware of how to progress through your program.
