Find out if you are eligible to apply for Upper Year Entry at OCAD University for September 2027. Before submitting an Upper Year Entry application, you must first receive confirmation that you are eligible to apply. What is Upper Year Entry? Eligible prospective students may apply to begin their studies at OCAD U at Year 2 or Year 3. We do not admit students to Year 4. To qualify, applicants should have completed one or more years of studio-based coursework at an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field. Here is a list of common related programs that may qualify applicants for Upper Year Entry. Year Level Placement Our undergraduate programs are 4 years in length. Upper Year applicants are assessed for admission to Year 2 or Year 3 based on the strength of their portfolio and academic transcript. Successful applicants will receive a block transfer of studio credits. Upper year students may be required to complete some lower-level studio courses if their portfolio and academic background do not demonstrate all of the skills and knowledge expected for advanced standing. Students admitted to Year 2 can typically complete their degree in approximately three years, while those admitted to Year 3 can typically complete their degree in approximately two years. Admission to Upper Year Entry is competitive and not guaranteed. Even if an applicant is eligible for consideration for Year 2 or Year 3 entry, they may instead receive an offer to Year 1 or may not be offered admission.Please note that inquiries will not be answered unless a post-secondary academic record is uploaded below or emailed to transfercredit@ocadu.ca. Please submit academic records that show course titles, credit values, and grades. If you are currently enrolled in courses, it should also include the courses you plan to complete between now and May 2027. Official transcripts are not required at this stage.
