Undergraduate Deferral Request Form 2026

Any personal information collected on this form is protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). The information you provide will be used to update your OCAD University records. These records are only viewed by OCAD U administrative staff and not released to any other parties.

OCAD U will consider deferral requests in cases of extenuating circumstances, this includes applicants who cannot begin their studies due to study permit processing delays.
Deferrals will not be granted for applicants who choose to take a gap year or to attend another postsecondary institution
Deferrals are only valid for the same program and year level indicated in the original offer of admission
Deferrals are only valid for a period of one academic year
All conditions of the original offer of admission must be satisfied before a deferral is granted
The deadline to satisfy all conditions of the Offer of Admission is August 1, 2026
You must have accepted the offer of admission through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre and paid the confirmation deposit by the deadlines indicated

Please note that it is not guaranteed that your request will be approved. You will receive a notification of the decision on your request within one month of submitting this form. The deadline to request a deferral to begin your studies in September 2027 is August 31, 2026.
